Story, powers & world
Kang Jinhyeok spent years mastering an unpopular tower game while his streaming audience drifted away. When the Tower of Trials appears in the real world, humanity inherits its floor timers. His first advantage is knowing which rewards are bait and which enemies are worth fighting. The first public event tests that knowledge against a crowd, a rival streamer and a monster that can kill people outside the old game.

Opening recap4 notes
- The only clear comes at the end of a career
After about eleven years, Jinhyeok reaches the summit. His achievement has little value to a shrinking audience, so he prepares to quit streaming the game. Then an update notice appears away from his game screen.
- A familiar event draws a real crowd
Jinhyeok heads to the site of an early encounter. The streamer Lee Jongsu, who has a much bigger audience, is already there. When a tree covered in red fruit appears, the crowd pushes forward for the reward.
- The first prize tells half the story
A participant gets an agility bonus from the fruit, so the others have good reason to think it works. Jinhyeok recognizes the Mangrove of Greed and watches the rush turn into an encounter with a creature that attacks with vines.
- The old guide still has tactical value
Jinhyeok closes in as the mangrove threatens the people around it. He recognizes the event’s reward rules and reads its attack pattern while others are still learning what the system has made possible.
Powers & world rules4 notes
- The deadline belongs to everyone
Humanity has 90 days to clear each floor. Progression therefore involves two clocks: how quickly an individual can get stronger and how quickly anyone can solve the next floor.
- Knowledge carries over from the old game
Jinhyeok can recognize the tower, its encounters and old routes because he played through them. The early chapters show him using that familiarity to plan where to go and how to approach an encounter.
- Items and encounters pay out differently
A mangrove fruit can grant three points of agility. Jinhyeok expects no experience for killing this particular event monster, so item rewards and ordinary leveling have different incentives.
- A visible system names enemy skills
The interface announces the mangrove’s bloodsucking vine attack. Its tendrils still occupy space in the room, giving the reader both a named ability and a physical danger to follow.
Later story notes4 notesSelected museum spoilers from episodes 4, 6, and 8 of the licensed French WEBTOON edition.
- Tower magic turns a city museum into a contested resource
Jinhyeok explains that the Tower’s magic has spread into Seoul and affected nearby relics. He distinguishes the museum’s powered replicas from their counterparts inside the Tower. Multiple groups can converge on the National Museum, so an old route also becomes a contest with other players.
- A replica can have a use even when its local value is doubted
An Anubis replica awakens as a threat in the museum. Later Jinhyeok takes the replica of Tutankhamun’s mask despite another player’s claim that it is unusable in Korea. The encounter shows how a rival’s assessment of an object can differ from what Jinhyeok is trying to collect.
- Copying a skill depends on the other person’s behavior
The interface sets a condition tied to Jungwoo Min revealing his true nature. Jinhyeok provokes him until the system registers success and grants Fire Element, marked B difficulty to acquire. When Jinhyeok activates the skill, the display shows level 1. The scene gives this particular copy a condition and an initial level.
- The real city responds on its own schedule
Museum surveillance footage starts circulating, and viewers connect the unidentified fighter to an earlier recording. Jinhyeok sees that a government body for awakened people is already forming faster than he expected. The events he recognizes from the game now have audiences and institutions that can react to his actions.

The Outdated Guide
Original game concept
Lead an evacuation through a game map that has become a real transit hub. You start with a veteran’s annotated guide. One interaction has changed and the other teams are following the published route.
Core loop
- Read the old route and mark the shortcut the other teams will try.
- Spend one of three scouting turns testing an object or questioning a witness.
- Update the evacuation route and give one team a warning they can act on.
- What the player decides
- Decide whether to take the shortcut yourself, give the safer route to a competing team, or spend another turn finding evidence that could change everyone’s plan.
- First playable test
- A station concourse with two exits, a real reward on a dangerous route, two rival teams and one changed trigger. After a run, ask players which observation made them trust or change the old guide.
