Opening recap4 notes
- Hojae commits before he understands the stakes
The former pro gamer accepts a mysterious invitation and chooses Hell difficulty. The publisher’s premise says he is trapped in the course and must try to survive his choice.
- The equipment room makes him state a theory
Hojae imagines how familiar tank, attacker and healer roles might work in the unfamiliar setting. While considering a bow, he also reasons that he might have to fight the people in front of him and that melee gear would suit that possibility.
- Other rooms become a source of leads
A participant explains that a system command opens a discussion board. It gives the group a way to talk to people in other rooms before they have firsthand experience of the challenges.
- Preparation exposes a blind spot
The group’s weapons are mostly suited to fighting nearby. Hojae raises the possibility of being attacked at range, and participants practice together before that preparation is put to use.
Powers & world rules3 notes
- Difficulty has lasting consequences
The opening presents Hell as a commitment Hojae has to live with. Tapas gives an extremely low fictional survival figure, which establishes the stakes of his selection.
- A guide can reach another room without moving the person who wrote it
The community interface crosses the boundary between rooms, so physical separation leaves a communication channel intact. The opening sample establishes that players can exchange information this way.
- Range is a limitation worth planning around
Hojae recognizes that having a weapon and being able to answer a distant threat are separate problems. The opening shows participants compensating through preparation and practice.

A Door Marked Severe
Original game concept
A turn-based survival lab with a fixed route and reports from other difficulty lanes. Each floor tests whether the player can tell a useful clue from a report that applies to someone else’s lane.
Core loop
- Choose one of two clearly described safety contracts, then pick a shield or a ranged tool.
- Read a source-labeled report and choose whether to inspect, test, or bypass a hazard.
- Record one response per hazard family and decide when to use a single recovery supply.
- What the player decides
- Spend health testing a telegraphed trap to unlock a defensive response for a later room, or take a safer detour with fewer tools for the final test.
- First playable test
- Build three deterministic rooms and two lanes that share hazards but change their timing. Repeated exposure to the same hazard grants no extra reward, and a failed run preserves only the notes. Track whether players change their loadout or route after failure and whether testing a hazard remains optional for a successful clear.
