Opening recap4 notes
- An inherited name comes with debt
Suho recognizes Javier as the swordsman from the novel he read and works out whose body he is in. Being called Master Lloyd gives him access to the estate and its household, where he learns how much debt the family carries.
- A cold pub becomes a test
Suho notices how little warmth the fireplace provides and that the village lacks the heated floors he knows. He identifies a local problem he can solve with knowledge from his former life.
- Demonstration comes before the sale
The pub owner and his mother react to the warmth of the new floor. Suho then offers a construction discount if a customer orders two jobs. The episode connects a working example to an opportunity to sell further work.
- Family obligations outlast one good job
Lloyd tells his father that he is unwilling to give up because of money. Creditors are still pressing the estate and suggesting items be sold. The first improvement gives him a route forward while the wider obligation stays in place.
Powers & world rules4 notes
- This is a transfer into an existing role
The opening shows Suho falling asleep after reading and waking as a person who already exists in the novel. It establishes the takeover and his memories, while leaving what happened to the original Lloyd unresolved in this scope.
- A title and someone’s approval are separate
Javier serves the household but can disapprove of Lloyd’s conduct. A visible notification marks a one-point decrease in Javier’s approval, making a social reaction measurable without explaining the complete scoring formula.
- A relationship can yield a resource
Suho observes that raising Javier’s approval gives him RP and wonders what it can buy. The scene connects approval to a resource. It leaves its full conversion rules beyond this early evidence.
- Expertise has to work in a place
His old engineering experience helps him recognize why the pub is cold. Turning that knowledge into an offer requires a locally useful project and a person willing to buy it.

The Deed and the Drain
Original game concept
An estate planning game about inheriting the authority to propose projects and the obligation to pay for them. Start with a title, a repayment deadline and a community that remembers the previous owner.
Play The Deed and the Drain →Core loop
- Survey one site and publish a work order that names who benefits, who supplies labor and what the estate pays.
- Negotiate with two local groups, commit your limited crew days and demonstrate the result in a visible flood or delivery test.
- Collect a payment if the project works, resolve any complaints it caused and decide which promises you can afford to carry forward.
- What the player decides
- Choose a cheap drainage route that protects the market but sends water into a farm, or use the remaining budget to negotiate an easement for a safer route before the lender’s deadline.
- First playable test
- One village plan, two projects, three counterparties and six turns. Give players a ledger for cash, crew time and obligations. Check whether they can explain whose cooperation made a design feasible.
